A new townhome development is being planned off Dews Pond Road, with an additional 0.12-acre parcel included to meet city buffer requirements. Fall Leaf Residential LLC has already received approval for 9.88 acres for 75 units in a cul-de-sac. The council approved this addition after a public hearing with no community input, resulting in a split vote.
Additionally, an annexation and zoning change for five acres on Nelson Lake Road was approved. Two requests, one for a site amendment from Echota Fabrics and another for a setback variance for an electronic billboard, were postponed or withdrawn.
The council also updated its animal control ordinance to include all pets in shelter and care standards. They approved a tax refund for Mohawk Industries due to an overpayment, with the city’s portion being $282,341.46. Lastly, a special event permit was granted for a food truck from Heavale Brewing Company to operate on specific dates.
