An inmate at the Floyd County Jail, 34-year-old Herbert Sebastian Shiflett of Silver Creek, is facing additional charges after reports said he hit a jail officer.
Reports said that Shiflett struck the officer in the thigh and hip during the altercation.
Shiflett is now charged with unlawful acts in a penal institution and battery on a law enforcement officer.
He has been in jail since early December following his arrest on charges that he bit a man during an altercation on Maple Road.
In November, Shiflett is also accused of destroying a woman’s car windshield and punching another that same day.
