Wallace Milton Sutton, 53 of Cedartown, was arrested this week after reports said he was found with an assortment of drugs and later more drugs at the Polk County Jail.
Reports said that while traveling south bound on South Main Street, officers observed a green Ford Ranger cross the yellow line separating the southbound lane and the two way turning lane. Police then processed the truck’s Georgia License Plate (SDQ5414) through NCIC/GCIC. The return of the vehicle’s information informed me that the Ford Ranger had a canceled registration.
Police then proceeded to make contact with the driver at the passenger side window. The male driver later to be identified as Wallace Sutton, already had his license ready to hand . While reaching in the passenger window to collect the license from Sutton, officers observed the barrel of a shotgun sticking out from under a coat and other items in the passenger seat of the truck. \
Police then requested Sutton to exit the vehicle. While processing Sutton’s information through NCIC/GCIC, officers requested Cpl. Eason who was already on scene to deploy K-9 Easy to conduct a free air sniff around the vehicle.
After an alert, a probable cause search of the vehicle was then conducted. Cpl. Eason removed the loaded Mossberg 12 Gauge Pump shotgun (S/N J567734) from the passenger seat. Under the driver seat of the vehicle, police also located a clear plastic bag containing a white crystal like substance believed to be Methamphetamine.
Multiple clear plastic bags commonly used for individual packaging of narcotics along with an operational small black scale commonly used to weigh narcotics with white residue on the top of it was also located inside of the vehicle.
While searching, police discovered a small plastic bag tied in a knot containing a white powdery substance believed to be Cocaine. Sutton was then asked if he had any other narcotics or weapons on him, due to it being an additional felony charge if he crossed the guard line of the Polk County Jail with it in his possession, to which he replied “no”.
Upon return to the Cedartown Police Department the two clear baggies containing what is believed to be Cocaine, the clear plastic bag containing what is believed to be Methamphetamine, the clear plastic baggies, the operational scale, the Mossberg 12 gauge pump shotgun and ammunition, were all submitted into evidence.
However, after arriving at the jail, officers said that they found additional drugs in his possession.
Sutton is charged with possession of cocaine, crossing the guard line with drugs, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of meth, possession of meth with intent to distribute, failure to maintain lane and driving on a suspended registration.
