Raashaun Deshay Newman, 38 of Brooklyn, was jailed in Rome this week after reports said he tried to cash a forged check at a bank on East 2nd Avenue.

Reports said that the Newman showed a forged Georgia ID card so that he could cash the $4,560.87 check.

He is also accused of attempting to withdraw an additional $3,000 from the same victim’s account.

Newman is also wanted for crimes in Virginia.

Newman is charged with 3rd degree forgery, identity fraud and fugitive from justice.
