A tragic fire at the Redmond Chase Apartments, located at 1347 Redmond Circle near Technology Parkway, claimed the life of a 3-year-old and left several others injured on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Rome-Floyd County Fire Department Division Chief Jamie Stone, firefighters arrived at the scene to find heavy smoke pouring from the second floor and reports of people trapped inside.
“Fire crews conducted search and rescue efforts, locating all occupants. One person had to be rescued from the building,” Stone explained.
Three individuals were transported by ambulance to Atrium Health Floyd’s emergency room for treatment of smoke inhalation and burn injuries. Their conditions were not available by Wednesday evening.
