An open records request in regards of former head Coach Jamie Abrams has been fulfilled by Polk School District.  According to emails, it appears as if athletic director Brigitte Tillery was behind the release of Abrams.

In an email to Superintendent Katie Thomas and Principal Scott Wilson, Tillery said that “I firmly believe that it would be in the best interest of our athletes and football program to consider a change in leadership.  Over the past few years, Coach Abrams has shown an ongoing interest in pursing coaching opportunities elsewhere.  This has raised concerns about the level of loyalty and commitment needed to foster the individual and team growth our athletes deserve.

In a response to CVN, Abrams says, “I never neglected any duties or responsibilities as the head football coach at Cedartown High School. My loyalty should not have been a concern. I bought a house in Cedartown when I got the job, my kids go to school in Cedartown, I coached multiple rec sports at Cedartown. I am not sure what else I could have done to show my loyalty. Finally, I did NOT pursue jobs every year I was at Cedartown as has been suggested.”

Abrams added, “I never discussed any job with anyone other than the building principal, therefore, that recommentation was based on hear-say.”

CVN requested all emails that were sent between Thomas, Wilson and Tillery from November until last week and no other communication via email was sent to CVN that was dated before January 20th
