Broadarris Wentrell Mattox, 34 of Elberton, was jailed in Rome after reports said he and three others conspired to sneak drugs into the Floyd County Prison.
Reports said that Mattox, an inmate of the prison, conspired over a phoneline to smuggle 243.81 grams of tobacco, 471 grams of marijuana, 6 sheets of suspected strips and rolling apers into the prison.
Officers were able to recover the contraband at an arranged dropping point.
Mattox is charged with items prohibited by an inmate, felony possession of marijuana, conspiracy to commit a felony and use of a communication facility in commission of a crime.
