Christopher Daniel Freeland, 36 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said an altercation with his wife became physical.
Police said that Freeland grabbed the victim, which resulted in her falling to the ground.
The victim suffered numerous scratches that required stitches from the altercation.
After being taken into custody and in the back of the patrol car, Freeland is accused of “making a commotion.”
Officers said that when they opened the back door, Freeland asked them if they would buckle his seatbelt. He then stuck his leg out of the car in an attempt to exit the vehicle when officers declined.
After getting out of the car, Freeland reportedly refused to get back inside.
Once at the jail, Freeland is accused of not complying with deputies while being booked.
Freeland is charged with battery and two counts obstruction.
