Longtime Gordon Coutny public servant and well known local resident Buddy Autry passed away this week.
A native of Gordon County, Buddy was instrumental in the creation of a professional ambulance service here in Gordon County, and was Civil Defense Director for many years, managing the program we now know as Emergency Management. Buddy was a familiar sight at historic disasters here, such as the deadly tornadoes which struck Gordon County in the early 1970s. Gordon County has lost a dedicated public servant, a pillar of the community, and a fine man with Buddy’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
