Cedric Warren Pryor, 40 of Cedartown, was arrested this week after reports said he stole a lost wallet from the Concon Food Mart on North Main Street.
Reports said that on December 19, 2024, an officer was flagged down by the store owner. He stated that one of his employees dropped his wallet the previous day at approximately 5 PM in the parking lot of the address mentioned. He also stated that the wallet was picked up by a subject that is in the store during the flag down.
He was identified as Cedrick Prior. Prior was asked about the wallet, but he could never provide any information regarding its whereabouts. At one point, Prior mentioned something about a glove, suggesting that someone should pick it up, but his statements were unclear and did not make sense in the context of the incident. Initially, he stated that it was at his sister’s home on 215 Martelle St, but later he said it was placed in the trash.
After talking the store owner and Prior I made contact with the victim. The victim told police that he went to work at the Conoco around 5pm and had his wallet that he placed in a black glove.
The victim stated that only contents that his wallet contained was his Social Security card and $200.00 dollars of U.S. currency.
During the incident, officers watched the store surveillance system in which they observed Prior looking down, stepping on the glove, and then picking it up. Prior then stepped up onto the sidewalk. Although the left side of his body was not clearly visible, it was apparent that he took what appeared to be money and placed it in his right hand pocket before walking off.
Pryor is charged with theft of mislaid property.
