Gordon County deputy sheriffs responded to a report of an intruder at a private residence on Fox Street late Friday. The complainant had discovered an unidentified male hiding in a closet in a juvenile’s bedroom, and confronted him about being in the home.
The male subject fled on foot before deputies arrived.
Detectives were called to the scene and an investigation was initiated. Witnesses were questioned and physical evidence was collected.
Working throughout the night, deputies were able to positively identify the perpetrator Saturday.
As the result of the investigation deputies arrested Sergio Hernandez-Vicente, age 19, of 617 Peters Street without incident and charged him with Statutory Rape and Child Molestation.
