A 47-year-old Chattooga County woman, Jessica Garfield, was arrested after law enforcement discovered methamphetamine and multiple loaded syringes during a search of her residence in connection with a burglary investigation.
Deputies responded to a call concerning a burglary at 342 Lake Wanda Reita Road. Upon arrival, they met with the complainant, Mable Coley, and several witnesses. Witnesses reported that a man identified as Ronald Gwin had forcefully entered the home, reportedly searching for a pair of socks and methamphetamine. While attempting to locate Gwin at a nearby residence on Northern Heights Circle, deputies were greeted at the door by Jessica Garfield, who denied his presence. When asked for permission to search the home, she complied, allowing officers to enter and investigate.
Inside, officers found a male subject, Jimmy White, and another unidentified female. During the search, a deputy discovered a loaded syringe in Garfield’s purse. Further investigation revealed five additional syringes and a small plastic bag containing a white crystalline substance that is suspected to be methamphetamine.
All individuals at the residence were initially taken into custody. However, Garfield later took full responsibility for the illegal substances found in her possession. In conjunction with this incident, a warrant is being issued for Ronald Gwin on charges of first-degree burglary.
