An inmate at the Floyd County Prison, Eddie Lee Howard III, 35, who was on work detail was found to have been in possession of drugs while at the PAWS shelter on North Avenue.

Reports said that Howard ran from officers when they attempted to search him after smelling a marijuana odor coming from a room he was in. 

Howard then is accused of throwing a sock, containing 24.37 grams of marijuana, over a fence and into the woods.   The drugs were later recovered.

Howard is charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drugs by an inmate and obstruction.
