Coosa Eagles Football Becomes Only Floyd County Schools Team to Make Playoffs

With no schools in Floyd County set to make the high school football playoffs going into the last week of the 2024 season, the Coosa Eagles went on the road and upset one of the best teams in the region, Chattooga Indians.

The victory propelled the Eagles up the rankings, and when the GHSA released its final rankings Saturday evening, Coosa was announced as a playoff team.

With the announcement, the Eagles shocked the state and became the 7^th team in Region 7A to make the high school playoffs.

In Region 7A, Fannin County, Christian Heritage, Gordon Lee, Chattooga, Dade County, Gordon Central and Coosa all made the playoffs.

The only team in the region to fail to make the playoffs was the Armuchee Indians.

Coosa will now travel Worth County to take on the Worth County Rams Friday night.

Coosa will host a community pep rally on Thursday evening to send the players and coaches off to the big game.
