Westin Stephen Porter, 22 of Adairsville, was arrested in Rome after reports said he made a false report of his car being stolen.
Reports said that on July 15th of this year, Porter called 911 and said that he had been car jacked at gun point in the area of E. Hermitage and Ireland Drive.
Officers investigated the claim and in the process discovered that he had lied about the events.
Evidence allegedly showed that Porter was involved in insurance fraud when his vehicle was found completely burned up in Bartow County.
Additional charges are pending.
Porter is charged with false report of a crime.
