Anthony Eric Whiteside, 48 of Rome, was arrested this week after allegedly committing a hit and run while under the influence of drugs.
Reports said that Whiteside struck a mailbox, trash can and power pole along Boyd Valley Road before fleeing the area.
Police added that they found Whiteside hiding in a brushy field off Pleasant Valley Road.
He told authorities that he had taken medication prior to driving.
Reports added that Whiteside caused over $1,200 in damages.
Whiteside is charged with 2nd degree criminal damage to property, hit and run, DUI, failure to maintain lane and a busted windshield.
