Joshua Glenn Ashworth, 48, and Kayleigh Nicole House, 25, both of Rome, were arrested this week after reports said they beat a child with their hand and shoe.
Reports added that the child was left with visible bruising.
The incident occurred at a home on Old Dalton Road.
Both are charged with cruelty to children in the 1st degree.
