The Friends of Resaca Battlefield will be hosting a Civil War Living History Program Saturday Oct. 26, between the hours of 9:30 a.m., and 3 p.m.
The historical program is aimed at increasing the public’s knowledge of the average soldier’s life during one of the most events in our nation’s history. Reenactors will be on hand to speak on related topics and to demonstrate camp life, military drills, and firing demonstrations in a safe controlled manner.
Program times are 10 and 11 a.m., and 1 and 2 p.m., at the Resaca Battlefield Historic Site, 6 Ga. Highway 136. The public are welcome to ask pertinent questions about this period and have one on one time with the reenactors.
Members of the Friends of Resaca Battlefield will be on hand to answer questions about the park and other related points of interest around Gordon County as well as the Battle of Resaca.
The Battle of Resaca, fought between May 9 and May 15, 1864, was one of the largest battles in Georgia’s history with approximately 105,000 Federal and 55,000 Confederate forces engaged with approximately 9,400 casualties.
This program is sponsored by the Friends of Resaca Battlefield free of charge to the public.
