Melissa Ann Akins, 47 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said she lied to police during an investigation into a theft that had occurred at Publix on Turner McCall Blvd.
Police said that she knowingly interfered with the investigation about property being stolen from the store. Atkins is accused of giving officers a fake name and date of birth with the intent to mislead officers.
Akins is charged with obstruction, criminal trespass, giving false information to police and probation violation.
