Rome Man Jailed After Trying to Hide Drugs from Police

Stephen Douglas Arp Jr, 47 of Rome, was arrested this week after a traffic stop on East 12^th Street resulted in police finding synthetic marijuana.

Reports said that during the stop, for a broken brake light, a K9 officer alerted on the vehicle.  Officers then located a bag of synthetic marijuana under Arp’s seat.

Officers added that Arp attempted to discard the drugs during the stop, but it was found on his clothing and seat.

Arp is charged with tampering with evidence and possession of synthetic marijuana.
