Tyler Austin Nichols, 27 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he was found driving high on drugs with his 1 year-old child in the car with him.
Officers said that they pulled Nichols over on Ga 1 near Booze Mountain Road when they clocked him driving at a high rate of speed.
Once stopped, officers noticed that Nichols had been driving on a suspended license and that his eyes were “bloodshot”. Police said that Nichols told them that he had smoked marijuana about an hour prior.
A search then resulted in officers finding marijuana cigarettes, two glass pipes containing white power, and a small bag of methamphetamine inside the vehicle. Officers also found several baggies, digital scales and a grinder.
Reports added that Nichols license had been suspended for not paying child support as well as numerous traffic offenses.
Nichols is charged with possession of marijuana, DUI, endangering a child by DUI, possession of drug related objects, possession of methamphetamine and speeding.
