Floyd County Commissioners approved a pay raise for its public safety employees this week.
Floyd County Manager Jamie McCord said that 509 full time employes, 15 part time employees and 167 certified law enforcement officers will be getting the raises.
The board approved for the employees to get a $2,600 pay raise and an additional $5,500 for law enforcement officers who have received their certification.
The part-time positions will be given $1,300.
The county will now start employees at a pay grade of 6 a minimum pay of $15 per hour and will offer law enforcement who starts at a pay grade of 12 a starting pay of $52,000 per year.
The new pay plan is set to go into effect on September 1.
