A Rome man, Nicholas Andrew Jones, 35 of Silver Creek, who was jailed last week on gun and drugs charges is facing an additional charge after it was discovered that a gun he was found with had been reported stolen.

Reports said that the gun had been reported stolen from a home on Holly Street in Lindale.

Jones is charged with theft by taking.

Nicholas Andrew Jones, 35 of Silver Creek, was arrested this week after reports said police found a gun and drugs during a traffic stop for not having a working tag light.

Police said that after stopping Jones on Blacks Bluff Road a K9 officer alerted on the vehicle.

A search of the car led officers to find Vyvanse, Alprazolam, a marijuana pipe and a .45 caliber handgun.  Jones is a convicted felon and thus not allowed to possess a firearm.

Jones is charged with possession of a schedule III controlled substance, possession of a schedule IV controlled substance, drugs not in original container, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of drug related objects and no tag light.
