Larry Don Pruitt Jr, 44 of Atlanta, was jailed in Rome after he robbed and assaulted a 72 year-old man at the Rome-Floyd County Library.

Police stated that the victim and a woman were sitting in a car smoking a cigarette with the windows down when Pruitt approached and asked them for money.

It was then Pruitt saw the .22 on the man’s hip when he demanded he hand the gun over. When the victim drew the gun, Pruitt grabbed it and pointed it toward him. During the altercation the trigger was pulled but the gun allegedly misfired.

Pruitt proceeded to let go of the gun and run away. However, the victim went after Pruitt and held him at gunpoint until police arrived.

Pruitt is charged with strong arm robbery and aggravated assault.
