Dwight Cramer Spear, 53 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he tried to flush drugs down a toilet during the execution of a search warrant at his Amelia Lane home.
Officers said that observed Spear running from the living room to the bathroom where they heard a toilet flush. Spear was then found with a soaked right arm. A small amount of marijuana was recovered from the home.
Police added that a grinder, digital scales and a firearm was also located. The firearm reportedly had its serial number removed.
Spear is charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, tampering with evidence, criminal use of an article with an altered ID mark and possession of drug related objects.
