A 30 year-old Rome man, Bill Franklin Douglas III, was arrested this week after causing Armuchee Schools to go into lockdown after threats of violence following an altercation with his girlfriend.
Reports said that the day began when Douglas used his fist to threaten his girlfriend while driving down the roadway. He is then accused of grabbing the steering wheel while she was driving, causing it to swerve into oncoming traffic.
After getting out of the vehicle he went into woods near Armuchee High School where he threatened to kill himself with a deadly weapon.
Two Armuchee schools and a nearby daycare were placed on lockdown due to his actions.
Douglas is charged with simple assault, reckless conduct, transmitting a false public alarm and probation violation.
