Calhoun City Commissioners voted unanimously to approve a proposed lease agreement with AT&T for a new cellular tower near downtown.

The new tower would be placed near the intersection of Richards Street and Louise Avenue in a parcel that is adjacent to the current Calhoun Utilities facility.

City Administrator Paul Worley is quoted in the Calhoun Times saying, “I think we know as a community we need lots of improvements with cell coverage, so we’ve been talking with AT&T.”

The next scheduled meeting of the council is set for Monday, June 10, at the Depot, 109 S. King St.
