Michael Derrick Salmon, 32 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he was found with a large quantity of methamphetamine in the cup holder of his vehicle during a traffic stop on Shorter Avenue.
Police added that Salmon proceeded to flee from officers on foot in an effort to escape arrest.
Salmon is charged with possession of methamphetamine, obstruction and two counts probation violation.
