Mr. Thomas Edward Pilcher, Sr., age 88, of Rome, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at a local healthcare facility.

                Mr. Pilcher was born in Lindale, Georgia on March 14, 1936, son of the late Herschel “Tut” Pilcher and the late Annie Mae Wilson Pilcher.  He was also preceded in death by eight siblings, Jewel Brewer, Myra Selman, Ruth Daniel, Mary Lambert, Annie Bell Cash, Mildred Helms, Lee Roy Pilcher, and James H. Pilcher.  Mr. Pilcher was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Vietnam War.  When he joined the Navy, he had a seventh-grade education, and after leaving the Navy he received his GED and then went to college at Berry College where he received a double major in Human Behavior and Sociology.  Mr. Pilcher worked for many years as a counselor with the State of Georgia Department of Corrections at the Rome Diversion Center until his retirement.  He was of the Christian faith.

                Survivors include a son, Tom Pilcher (Jennifer); a daughter, Rita Wender (Milt); grandchildren, Tiffany Carpio, Elizabeth Andric, Ashley Williams, and Pierce Wender; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

                Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, with Dr. Philip May officiating.  Private interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

                The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, on Friday from 1pm until the service time.
