Remika Shuntae Griffin, 36 of Rome, was jailed this week after reports said she hit a police officer in the face during a traffic stop near the intersection of Sherwood Drive and Shorter Avenue.

Police said that Griffin attempted to pass her sister’s expired driver’s license as her own during the stop. She is also accused of identifying herself as her sister while providing a fake name and date of birth.

Griffin then proceeded to refuse to give her social security number or any other Identification to officers.

It was then, she was accused of punching the officer in the face with her fist.  

Griffin is charged with simple battery against a police officer, felony obstruction, giving false information to police, driving without insurance, driving without license in possession, fraudulent drivers license/Id card, driving on a suspended registration, giving false information to police, willful obstruction, failure to appear and probation violation.
