William Martin Hudgins, 37 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he sprayed his 30 year-old girlfriend in the face with chemicals, resulting in blindness, after she refused to have sexual relations with him.
Police said that in addition to temporary blindness, the victim suffered severe skin irritation to her face.
When officers arrived on the scene, Hudgins was accused of fleeing the scene.
Hudgins is charged with aggravated assault and obstruction.
