Charles Edwin Grifin Sr, 78 of Rome, was arrested this week after police said he repeatedly attempted to slap them while they were placing him under arrest for being drunk in public.
Police said that they took Grifin into custody on West 2nd Avenue.
Grifin is charged with simple assault and public drunk.
