Randy Wayne Cook, 44 of Rome,  was arrested this week after leading police on a high-speed chase of over 100 mph down Alabama Highway.

Police said that they attempted to first stop Cook for driving 71 in a 45 mph zone before he speed away.

Cook eventually crashed his car and when police arrived on scene they detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from him. 

A search of the car then resulted in officers finding stolen items, including a safe, Mickey Mantle baseball card, Jewelry, gift cards, class ring and over $1,500 inside.

Cook is charged with speeding, DUI, fleeing from police, financial transaction card fraud, theft by receiving stolen property and speeding.
