Eric Dennis McConnell, 34 of Lindale, was arrested this week after reports said he grabbed a 29 year-old woman by the throat and then slapped her in the face.
Police said that they noticed the victim had fingernail markings and bruising on her throat.
McConnell is charged with battery.
