Mark Thirston Tate, 41 of Summerville, was arrested in Rome after reports said he had online conversations with someone he thought to be a child.
Reports said that he was taken into custody at Park Avenue in L indale.
Tate is charged with child molestation, obscene internet contact with a child and probation violation.
