Sheila Fay Shepherd, 57 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said she injured her elderly mother during a dispute at her home on Maple Road.
Police said that Shepherd grabbed the 78 year-old woman with such force she left bruises on her arm.
Shepherd is charged with battery.
