Demonte Christopher Dawson, 29 of Rockmart, was arrested in Rome after leading police on a chase at speeds of over 140 mph.
Police said that Dawson ran numerous stop signs and red lights around Floyd County while leading officers on the chase. Officers added that Dawson placed people at risk of injury or death when he drove on the wrong side of the roadway.
After eventually pulling over, Dawson allegedly continued to refuse to comply with officers.
He was finally contained and, in the process, found in possession of marijuana.
Dawson is charged with speeding, driving without insurance, failure to maintain lane, driving on wrong side of the roadway, running red lights, running stop signs, attempting to elude police, possession of marijuana and obstruction.
