Floyd County Schools Superintendent, Dr. Glenn White, has named Michael Branson principal at Armuchee Elementary School, effective today, after serving in an interim principal role since July.

“We are excited to name Mr. Branson as principal at Armuchee Elementary School,” stated Dr. Glenn White. “While in Floyd County Schools, he has done an exceptional job as an assistant principal and in his most recent role as interim. He has leadership experience at the elementary level and works hard every day leading the school, staff and community. I believe that he will have overall positive results and impacts for Armuchee Elementary and its community.”

Branson joined Floyd County Schools, with several years of experience in education, last July when he was named Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction at Armuchee High School. During his time in this role, Branson focused on the overall instructional approach for the school, while working closely with his teachers and staff. He was named interim principal at Armuchee Elementary this past July.

Prior to joining FCS, he served as the Assistant Principal of Rome High School from 2018-2022, where he had a focus over Curriculum and Instruction, Professional Development, Master Scheduling and Testing. For a tenure of two years prior, he was the Assistant Principal at Northside Primary School in Tifton, Georgia.

A masters graduate of GCSU, Branson began his career at Tift County High School as a mathematics teacher.
