Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap cautions Bartow County Citizens of scam telephone calls after he has received numerous complaints from local residents of callers identifying themselves as deputy sheriffs from other counties with warrant for their arrest.
These call scammers will attempt to explain there has been a warrant issued for the individual and give instructions to the victim how they need to pay in order to have the warrant dismissed or they will be arrested.
Sheriff Millsap warns this is not how law enforcement handles the processing of warrants and a Sheriff’s Office will not demand money or notify an individual of a warrant over the phone.
Sheriff Millsap wants to ensure the people these calls are a complete scam and citizens should never provide any personal information to telephone solicitors.
If you feel you have been a victim of this type of scam, you may contact the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office at 770-382-5050.
