A 41 year-old Columbus man, Alfred Demond Jenkins, was jailed in Rome after he was accused of stealing over $7,000 in jewelry from the East Rome Walmart.

Reports said that Jenkins gained access to the jewelry stand, removed the items and placed them in a trash can where he later removed their labels and left the store without paying for them.  

Authorities said that the total value of jewelry taken was $7,022.

Jenkins is charged with felony shoplifting and felony shoplifting.
