Cartersville Police confirmed that the suspect involved in a shootout with police on Sunday was that of 37 year-old Shane Jacquez Barfield, of Cartersville.
Reports said that police were dispatched to the area of Joe Frank Harris Parkway and Market Place Blvd at 3:08 pm Sunday in response to a man walking in the street holding a gun.
When officers arrived on the scene, the suspect began firing at officers. Cartersville police returned fire on the suspect.
Neither the officer nor the suspect was struck in the exchange.
Barfield is charged with three counts of aggravated assault upon peace officers, theft by receiving stolen property (firearm), possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of methamphetamine.
