A 42 year-old Rome woman, Jillian Durgan, was killed Saturday on Highway 27 near Gore-Subligna Road in Chattooga County after she was struck by a southbound 2017 Freightliner CMV.

Reports said that Durgin was drivig a 2010 Hyundai Tucson as she pulled out of a gas station lot and into the path of the truck.

The Freightliner struck the Hyundai on the left side, which caused both vehicles to continue off the roadway and into a ditch.

The Freightliner overturned, striking another commercial vehicle in a private lot.

Durgin was pronounced dead at the scene by Chattooga County Coroner Earle Rainwater.
