Matthew Lewis Cook, 46 of Gaylesville, was arrested this week for stealing tens of thousands of dollars in items from Rome businesses.

Reports said that on June 12 of this year,  Cook stole over $10,000 in property from State Mutual Insurance.  Then on June 14th, he stole close to $9,000 in property from State Mutual.  The items were later recovered at his home in Alabama.

He was captured this week while stealing $600 in property from the East Rome Walmart.  

Cook is charged with four counts theft by taking and felony theft by shoplifting.
