Deputy Coroner John Hamilton confirmed Robert Wallace Hall, 34 of Rome, died on Wednesday after falling into a manhole at Armuchee High School.
Reports said that Wallace fell at least 20 feet down a manhole near the front left side of the school.
Life flight was called to the scene but Wallace passed away before first responders could get him out.
The body will be transported to the GBI Crime lab for an autopsy.
Hall was a plumber doing work at the school when the incident occurred.
