Vince Shariff Maxwell, 57 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he failed to get veterinary care for a dog that had cuts with maggots in it.
Police said that “Chico” was found with open wounds to his lip and scrotum that were covered with maggots.
Authorities went on to say that the dog had to be euthanized due to the extent of his injuries.
Maxwell is charged with aggravated cruelty to animals.
