George Kelvin Waddell, 57 of Cedartown, was arrested on Reservoir Street in Rome after he was found in possession of several varieties of drugs.
Police said that Waddell was found with a bag of methamphetamine, Clonazepam and Gabapentin in his front pant pocket.
Officers added that Waddell attempted to run away from them in an attempt to avoid arrest. He was captured after a brief foot chase.
Waddell is charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a schedule IV controlled substance, possession of dangerous drugs, obstruction and probation violation.
