Ronald Dean Murphy, 50 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he scammed another out of $97,000.
Police said that Murphy was given the money to remodel a building at 1033 and 1035 North Broad Street but never did the renovations.
The theft occurred back in late 2022.
Murphy is charged with felony theft by conversion and probation violation.
