According to Bartow County -Sheriff Clark Millsap, on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at approximately 1920 hours, Uniform Patrol Deputies and Investigators were dispatched to the area of Pine Ridge Drive NW in reference to shots fired which was later determined to be a murder investigation at 22 Pine Ridge Drive NW, Cartersville, Bartow County, Georgia.
The Victim, Michael Douglas Gravely, 47, of 22 Pine Ridge Drive NW, Cartersville, was located between two outside buildings at a nearby residence with a gunshot to his lower back. Gravely received emergency first aid medical attention on scene and was transported to a nearby
hospital by Emergency Medical Services where he later died as a result of his injuries.
Alexander Bradley Smart, 34, of Taylorsville, was taken into custody nearby without further incident and has been charged with Murder.
Smart is currently being held in the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office Adult Detention Center without bond. No further information at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
