A 19 year-old Summerville teen, Daegen P. Vaughn, was killed and 22 year-old Mason D. Sterner, also of Summerville, was seriously injured in a wave runner boating accident on Weiss Lake over the weekend.
Reports said that the boat crashed into the shore and a tree late Saturday night.
Vaughn was pronounced deceased at the scene. Sterner, who was a a passenger, was transported to Atrium Health Floyd for treatment.
The incident occurred in the Yellow Creek area of Weiss Lake near Cedar Bluff, in Cherokee County.
Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Marine Patrol Division are investigating the incident further.
