Derricus Demond Pollard, 36 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he attacked a woman and tried to steal her keys.
Reports added that the victim was shoved to the ground during the altercation on Reservoir Street.
Two children witnessed the attack.
Pollard is charged with battery and two counts cruelty to children.
